In a nutshell

When we talk of pastoring or pastoral care, my first thought is often
about caring for people in their times of difficulty. This is essential,
but if it’s where our thoughts remain, we risk underplaying the role
pastoring can play in all of life’s details. Pastoring means being a
shepherd for our flock every day, not just on extreme days.
