A four-week discussion of this powerful book

‘The modern world is a habit formation machine. … We fill every idle moment with technology.’ – Justin Whitmel Earley

Every day contains a million distractions, right at our fingertips. Each electronic impulse tempts us to follow the bright light, often away from the kingdom of God toward patterns of living centred on ourselves.

What if we could change that? What if we could realign our everyday routine and the way we use our devices to serve Christ and his mission in the world?

That’s where The Common Rule comes in. Awarded Christianity Today’s 2020 Book of the Year for Christian Living and Discipleship, it lets us in on author Justin Whitmel Earley’s disordered existence, working overtime as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer – and how it led to a breakdown of faith.

Justin was always missionally minded, as a nonprofit entrepreneur with a background in overseas mission. But it wasn’t until he was forced to reform his most basic patterns that he could sustainably serve Christ in his day-to-day life.

There’s no charge for attending this course.

Across four interactive sessions this autumn, join us as we dive into The Common Rule and discuss:

  • How we can approach our overwhelming anxiety, busyness, and depression
  • How to put technology in its place – and find the freedom and peace of the gospel by aligning our habits to our beliefs
  • How to form a ‘rule of life’ with daily and weekly practices to help us resist and embrace technology

You’ll need to pre-read The Common Rule to spark conversations at our fortnightly Wednesday 7–9pm Zoom gatherings:
