Then welcome to A Better Conversation! Aimed at 18–35s, this in-person gathering will give you a safe space to explore what you think, wrestle with tricky topics, and consider what it all means for the way you live today. 

In workplaces, living rooms, pubs, and university campuses, hardly a day goes by when social justice issues aren’t discussed. Think questions of equality, diversity, and inclusion, or problems of prejudice, racism, sexism, classism, bigotry, and other social ills. The term ‘woke’ was originally used to mean being aware of and countering such unjust systems in our society – but has since become a flashpoint for all kinds of unproductive mudslinging. 

It’s right – and biblical – to be awake to injustice. But how do we speak truth to power without falling into virtue signalling, echo chambers, or intractable left-vs-right ideological binaries? Is it even possible to be ‘biblically woke?’ 

And what would Jesus have us say and do as people called to seek first the righteous and just kingdom of God – especially when Christianity itself is in the firing line, often seen as part of the problem? 

Join us for a stimulating Saturday in London, led by LICC’s Matt Jolley and Dave Benson, along with Luke Cawley and Kristi Mair from Invisible Castle, a project seeking fresh ways to communicate the Christian faith. Together, we’ll practise being ‘wise peacemakers’ in the places we’re called by God to be, especially where we work and study.  

Rock up for a light breakfast at LICC’s London HQ, followed by a day of honest conversation that’ll help us think and act in a way that brings about justice in our everyday lives. There’ll be plenty of unhurried space to build friendships across the day, as well as time to head out and pick up some lunch – Marylebone is full of great options!
